HOW DOES VISION CORRECTION WORK?
Laser vision correction is a procedure designed to correct refractive errors such as nearsightedness (myopia), farsightedness (hyperopia), and astigmatism. These procedures use advanced laser technology to reshape the cornea, thereby improving the way light rays are focused onto the retina.
To improve accuracy, outcomes and recovery time of the treatment, we are proud to offer the iDesign technology for our patients, which takes the Custom treatment a step further.
AGE RESTRICTION
Vision correction by laser technologies can be done for patients from 18 to 59 years of age. If you are over 59 years, your doctor might discuss with you other options such as cataract or CLE.
DEFINITIONS
-
Nearsightedness (Myopia): Distant objects appear blurry because light rays are focused in front of the retina.
-
Farsightedness (Hyperopia): Close objects appear blurry because light rays are focused behind the retina.
-
Astigmatism: Distorted or blurred vision at all distances due to an irregularly shaped cornea or lens.
-
Presbyopia : Natural age-related condition characterized by the gradual loss of the eye's ability to focus on nearby objects. It typically becomes noticeable in individuals around the age of 40 and continues to progress with age.
iDESIGN TECHNOLOGY
iDESIGN REAFRACTIVE STUDIO
The iDesign refractive studio combines topo-integrated and wavefront-guided technology, that can be used with Ultralasik/Laser procedures. The iDesign system utilizes wavefront aberrometry to create an entirely custom map of your cornea. It also scans your cornea to provide information on both your “lower order aberrations” (which make up 90% of your visual imperfections such as myopia, hyperopia and astigmatism) and your “higher order aberrations” (visual imperfections that cause problems such as halos, glare and poor night vision). This means that your surgeon has the full spectrum of your visual imperfections, not just the lower order aberrations that your prescription provides. The iDesign system collects over 1,200 data points, making it 25 times more accurate than normal measurements for standard prescriptions. A more accurate system means less risk involved, less recovery time after the surgery, and more time seeing life the way it’s meant to be seen.
ULTRALASIK
DEFINITION
Ultralasik is an advanced form of LASIK (Laser-Assisted In Situ Keratomileusis) surgery designed to correct refractive errors with high precision and quick recovery. Most patients can resume their work the next day after doing the procedure. It can be done with CustomVue or iDesign treatments.
INDICATIONS
Ultralasik is suitable for individuals with:
-
Nearsightedness (myopia) : from -0.50 D to -9.75D
-
Farsightedness (hyperopia) : Up to +5.75
-
Astigmatism : Up to -6
RECORVERY TIME
Within 3 hours
PRICING
From 4000 AED to 6000 AED both eyes
LASER AND NON TOUCH LASER
DEFINITION
LASER and Non-Touch LASER (Smart Surface) utilize laser only to reshape the cornea and treat refractive errors, without touching the eyes. It is the only procedure done completey by laser. It can be combined with CustomVue or iDesign treatments for more precision in correction.
INDICATIONS
Patients with thin corneas or those unsuitable for LASIK.
-
Nearsightedness (myopia) : from -0.50 D Up to -9.75D
-
Farsightedness (hyperopia) : Up to +5.75
-
Astigmatism : Up to -6
RECORVERY TIME
Within 3 days
PRICING
From 4000 AED to 6000 AED both eyes
FEMTOLASIK
DEFINITION
Femtolasik involves the use of a femtosecond laser to create a corneal flap after which an excimer laser is used to correct the refractive error.
INDICATIONS
-
Nearsightedness (myopia) : from -0.50 D Up to -9.75D
-
Farsightedness (hyperopia) : Up to +5.75 D
-
Astigmatism : Up to -5.75 D
Up to -9.75D in combination
RECORVERY TIME
Within 24 hours
PRICING
From 7500 AED both eyes
SMILE LASIK
DEFINITION
SMILE LASIK (Small Incision Lenticule Extraction) is a modern, minimally invasive laser vision correction procedure. SMILE uses a femtosecond laser to create a thin, lens-shaped layer (lenticule) within the cornea. The lenticule is then removed through this small opening, reshaping the cornea and correcting vision.
INDICATIONS
-
Nearsightedness (myopia) : -2.50 D to -8.00 D (Not ideal for lower aberrations)
-
Astigmatism : up to -3.00 D only
-
SMILE is not currently FDA-approved for correcting hyperopia
RECORVERY TIME
Within 24 to 48 hours
PRICING
From 9000 AED both eyes
LASIK/LASER XTRA
DEFINITION
LASIK XTRA is an innovative enhancement to the traditional vision correction techniques, as it combines the standard Vision correction procedure with an additional step of corneal cross-linking , meant to stregthen the cornea. This process involves the application of riboflavin (vitamin B2) drops to the cornea, followed by exposure to ultraviolet (UV) light. The UV light activates the riboflavin, strengthening the collagen fibers in the cornea and enhancing its structural integrity.
INDICATIONS
During vision correction procedures, the excimer laser thins the cornea in order to correct refractive errors like myopia and astigmatism. Hence, higher degrees of spectacle power correction result in proportionately thinner corneas. Rarely, thin and weakened corneas may progressively bulge forward, a condition called corneal ectasia. LASIK/Laser Xtra™ is postulated to reduce this risk by strengthening the cornea.
-
Nearsightedness (myopia) : Up to -9.75D

Farsightedness (hyperopia) : Up to +5.75
